Questionnaire Responses

Janine Hanson

We reached out to just about every candidate that we ranked with a questionnaire specific to the office they are running for. Here are the answers Ms. Hanson provided.

Ms. Hanson is a member of the Independent American Party. She's running to be Nevada's next Secretary of State.

Tell us about your background. What are your qualifications for this position?

As State President of Nevada Families for Freedom I have served as a citizen advocate at the Nevada Legislature for Families and Taxpayers full time since 1981. I have been particularly concerned with election legislation making sure the elections are fair and honest. I serve as the State Chairman of the Independent American Party which provides voters a choice of candidates who support the Constitution and believe in less government and more individual responsibility.

I am married and a mother of four and a grandmother of seventeen. This is my motivation for running for office to leave a better state for my children, grandchildren and future generations. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Relations from Brigham Young University. I have worked passionately all my life to protect Life, Liberty and Family values.

Do you agree or disagree with the measures taken by state officials in response to the COVID-19 pandemic? What do you think should have been done or done differently?

I totally disagreed with the measures taken by state officials. I believe the whole COVID-19 was used to increase government power and destroy individual liberties. They used COVID-19 to take away our freedom of medical choice, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Many voters are unhappy with our public school system. What policies or actions would you prescribe to repair or replace the existing system? Do you support “school choice” policies such as educational savings accounts? Why or why not?

The public/government schools have become indoctrination and propaganda institutions. I have been an advocate of school choice and educational savings accounts for decades. Our children and hence our state and nation are being destroyed by government schools which don’t teach the basics and promote revisionist history.

Please briefly describe your political philosophy. What are your guiding principles?

Adherence to Constitutional principles of limited government and individual responsibility and liberty are my guiding principles.

Many voters are concerned about inflation and its impact. What could be done at the state or national level to address the root causes of inflation or mitigate its impact on the public?

Inflation has been caused by the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Government creating money out of nothing. It causes an “inflation tax” where the value of our dollar continues to go down making the cost of everything else go up.

Of course part of inflation has been caused by limiting production of fossil fuels in the U.S.

In Nevada we could lower taxes, encourage development of fossil fuels, and production and consumption of locally manufactured or grown products. In addition we could make gold and silver legal tender.

Our ability to have much of an impact on inflation at the state level is limited.

On the federal level we would need to abolish the federal reserve and severely limit federal spending to constitutionally authorized spending.

Many voters are concerned about the integrity of our elections. What are your thoughts on this issue and what actions would you take to address these concerns

The Secretary of State serves as the Chief Elections officer of the State of Nevada. As Chief Elections Officer the Secretary of State oversees election integrity in Nevada. The 2020 election created great concern over the honesty of our election process in Nevada.

As Secretary of State I would advocate for changes by the Legislature in the Nevada Election Law to return to our election process the safeguards of previous years which provided Nevada with one of the safest and most legitimate election processes in the nation.

In 2021 the Nevada Legislature placed into Nevada Statutes AB321 which included all the bad features of the AB4 from the 2020 Special Session. AB321 included ballot harvesting (which had previously been illegal in Nevada), universal mail-in voting, electronic rather than human signature verification, with virtually no safeguards to ensure that returned ballots are legitimate.

In addition, I would publicly expose the critical fact that the Legislature, by mandating Automatic Voter Registration at the DMV, made sure there is no way to distinguish a driver’s license of a citizen from a driver’s authorization card of a non-citizen (illegal alien). This means that the Secretary of State and any local election official has no way of determining by checking the number on a driver’s authorization card or driver’s license if the person registering to vote may not be a citizen.

Janine Hansen has been an advocate for the Citizens of Nevada, Families and Taxpayers at the Nevada Legislature for many years. She testified at the Legislature against AB321 the devastating bill facilitating election fraud which passed in 2021.

Why did you run for Secretary of State? What do you hope to accomplish if elected?

The 2020 problems in Nevada’s elections began with the passage of AB4 by the Nevada Legislature in the 2020 Second Special Session. AB4 mandated mail in voting for all active voters and allowed ballot harvesting. The excuse for these measures was that the Governor had declared a state of emergency because of Covid 19. These monumental changes opened Nevada to election fraud in the November 2020 election.
